... anyone out there? Current Mood: curious
A Little Rant
( Personal ExperienceCollapse )
Now that I am done with Fall-Spring terms, and need to find a job NOW, I am really concerned about prospects. I am not sure when an apprentice position will open for limited inside residential (my #1
choice, though I'm open to doing other things- like HVAC even), but also- I don't have a car. In the meantime I want to get into something like electronic assembly (to save money)- but I'm finding that many outfits want you to have a car there too. It feels like I need to flip burgers to get a car, to get into an entry-level assembly position, to wait for the possibility of being chosen for an apprenticeship.
...and in the meantime- aside from my school transcript (not sure how to include that)- my resume (because of all of those short-term odd-jobs and my inability to remember supervisor names, etc.) is awful. I really hate having to create resumes. I think they reflect on the person you were, rather than what you're capable of. My resume makes it look like I have the work ethic of a mouse on crack.
Is anyone else in this sort of boat? Current Mood: curious- and venty
I just created this community because I'd like to be able to communicate with other people interested in, working in, or studying electrical trades and/or related work. I am currently a first year student in Portland Oregon, and haven't encountered many people on LJ in the same field range- so if anyone is out there, it would be great to meet you!
